FAQ

Q: Is there a support mailinglist for Ambient?

A: Yes, there is. You can subscribe here: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/morphosambient-public or by writing a mail to morphosambient-public-request@lists.sourceforge.net with the subject "subscribe".

Q: Is there a support IRC channel for Ambient?

A: No, but most of us can be meet on #morphos (irc.freenode.net).

Q: When there will be a release of Ambient by the Ambient Open Source Team?

A: There will be a release by us when we're satisfied with our work and think Ambient has grown to enough functionality and stability to have a proper working build. This can be next week or next year, we don't know. Please don't bug us. ;-)

Q: I downloaded a so-called "Ambient CVS" build and now my system stopped working, what now?

A: We don't give any support for binary releases that were not provided by us for download on sourceforge. Please bug the certain individual who made the build.

The CVS is a daily working place and we cannot and will not make sure that current version will always run stable and to full satisfaction for all users. If you want to use a CVS version then you have to live with all consequences, which means no support and possible encountering of serious problems, e.g. loss of data or a completely broken system. It's up to you if you want to take the risk or prefer to wait until we made sure the build is stable, working and therefore ready for release.

Still, if you have problems with CVS version or older releases you can ask for help on the morphosambient-public mailinglist.

Q: Can I report bugs to the development team?

A: Yes, you can. Please use the BugTracker on the sourceforge project page for this.

Q: I reported problems/ bugs to forum X, why I do not get reply/ help by the development team?

A: We will only give general support/ help on the morphosambient-public mailinglist. All developers are members of the list too, so please ask your question/ report your problem here so developers and/or other users can try to help you.
